How can you optimize your media for online delivery? And how can you ensure that your audience will have a positive experience when viewing your content online? Whether you are an online video novice or a veteran of streaming media, this presentation is guaranteed to help you better understand the possibilities available today and what the future holds for using the Internet to deliver video online.

Come learn about the four pillars of digital media from Marc Melkonian, one of today's online media "gurus." With 14 years of experience in the computer industry, Marc has worked in Microsoft's Digital Media Group and for Online Video Services, a leading Internet broadcasting company.

The four pillars of digital media that will be discussed are:

1. Recording - Hear about best practices for optimizing video and audio for Internet delivery during recording

2. Media Capture and Compression - Learn the basic principles of how a codec works, the difference between encoding and transcoding, and the difference between formats like Flash, Windows Media, QuickTime, Real, and H.264

3. Media Delivery - Hear about issues that impact getting your media to your audience; for example, progressive downloads vs. streaming, bitrates, and authentication

4. Playback - Learn the pros/cons of embedded vs. stand-alone players, the basics of Digital Rights Management (DRM) and how online distribution/syndication works

Marc will also cover common problems and troubleshooting techniques like frame drops and rebuffering, as well as new and emerging online video technologies like Joost, Vividas, and Grid Networks.

As always, the presentation will be adapted to fit the interests of the audience and feature a rich Q & A
