Princeton Media Communications Association MARCH 2007 MEETINGCome See Sony’s XDCAM Steve Sarafian, Sony Date: Thurs.,
March 22, 2007
Additional Information Come meet Steve Sarafian, the Northeast Region Sales Support Engineer for Sony Business and Professional Group, covering XDCAM and HDCAM products, and see a presentation/demo introducing the current XDCAM product line. Concepts such as file-based recording, proxy and metadata based workflows will be discussed and demonstrated. In addition, the application of these concepts will be shown as it relates to the workflow in Apple’s Final Cut Pro. The XDCAM Import plug-in for Final Cut Pro will be demonstrated, along with advanced features of this application. Sony's XDCAM® Professional Disc™ System is an optical disc based video production system. It utilizes state-of-the-art blue-violet laser technology to achieve high data transfer rates and long recording times for practical day-to-day operations. It’s now used by a large number of broadcast stations, production companies, sports teams, corporations, houses of worship, government, and educational facilities around the world. The Sony XDCAM Series of optical disc products use file-based recording and random access capabilities that not only remove the “linear-natured” barriers common to tape media, but also merge the AV and IT worlds by featuring the functions required for both domains. In addition, the optical media used for the XDCAM Series has been designed to be both highly durable and reliable, suited to even the harshest operating environments. It allows the recording and playback of a wide assortment of data, including the “MPEG HD” codec based on MPEG-2 MP@HL, MPEG IMX™, and DVCAM™ data streams, metadata, and low-resolution copies (proxy AV data) of your recordings. As always, the presentation will be adapted to fit the interests of the audience and feature a rich Q & A. Join Us! If this meeting sounds intriguing, now would be a good time to join PMCA.
