This month’s meeting features speakers from one of the most experienced High Definition production and post-production facilities in the region. Shooters Post & Transfer supports all major high definition production formats including HDCAM, HDCAM 24p, DVCPRO-HD and the D5 High Definition formats. Most of their HD work is in commercials, broadcast ID, and film intermediates, which are high res video files that contain elements shot on film combined with digital effects that are transferred back to film for release to theaters.

Some of their work includes: creating hundreds of HD logo and ID elements for Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia and Baltimore/Washington DC, a logo package for MTV’s “Twisted,” and HD dailes and graphics for the CBS TV series “Hack.”

Ray Carbalada, Shooters’ Chief Operating officer and long time editor Mark Farkus will discuss how HD production differs from standard film and video production and show some examples of their HD work. They’ll also cover where they see the trends in HD production going and answer audience questions.

Shooters Post & Transfer is a full-service post production and transfer facility equipped with a Spirit HD telecine, three discreet *fire HD editing suites, three Avid Media Composer suites, two digital Betacam suites and two audio post rooms. For 3D animation they use NewTek's Lightwave 3D which can output both standard definition and HD. They also use a Snell & Wilcox Niagra high definition noise and grain management system with da Vinci's 2K color corrector to control image artifacts that become much more noticeable in HD.

In addition to the post facility, Shooters maintains a shooting stage and is one of the busiest field production companies in the business.
