So you’ve got this dream of producing a movie about a subject that has fascinated for years and years. You’re a media professional who has worked on hundreds of projects for corporations and other organizations, but you’ve never done anything that is a labor of lovethat is content that you’ll own and hopefully profit from.

At this month’s meeting, Connecticut filmmaker, Chris Szwedo, will describe the creative and business process behind producing his EMMY nominated one-hour independent film for Public Television, Limerock Park: The Secret Valley of Racing. Through selected excerpts, we’ll see why this film has become a highly respected essay on the beauty and passion of motor sports and learn how Chris persevered to make his vision a reality.

Chris was born in Schenectady, New York and is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. He has over twenty years of experience as a producer of scientifically-oriented corporate and special interest video presentations. His clients have included SIEMENS, ALSTOM, BMW North America, SKIB BARBER RACING, and Saint Joseph College in Connecticut.

But it was his first passing look at Lime Rock Park that brought forth the idea for a unique broadcast documentary - a project that incorporated the perspective of a full year of New England life amidst the backdrop of a special setting in racing history. The project saw the fulfillment of a long-held dream of producing long-form independent works.

Chris resides on Cape Cod in Eastham, Massachusetts. He is currently working on a one-hour documentary entitled “A Gullwing At Twilight”, shot at the Bonneville Salt Flats--as well as a series of wide-screen images for Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts that will accompany their exhibition of Ralph Lauren’s sportscar collection.

This meeting is a must for anyone who wants to learn to make successful documentary films.
